A gig economy is a free market system where temporary positions are common. In such system the organizations hire the independent workers for short-term commitments. The gig economy includes the work arrangements including the independent contractors, Project-based workers, freelancers, and temporary or part-time hires. It is part of a shifting cultural and business environment including the sharing economy, gift economy and barter economy.
Sugamya Bharat App
It is an initiative of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD),Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Designed to aid people with disabilities and the elderly, the Sugamya Bharat app allows users to report accessibility problems in public infrastructure, transportation, and buildings.
The Sugamya Bharat App (SBA) is a vital initiative by the Government of India aimed at improving accessibility for persons with disabilities and elderly citizens.
NAVYA Initiative
NAVYA stands for Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls. The initiative seeks to empower young women and encourage their independence.
NAVYA initiative is step towards empowering adolescent girls in India. Launched on 24th June 2025, this programme is a collaboration between the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. It aims to provide vocational training to girls aged 16 to 18 years, particularly in non-traditional job roles. The launch took place in Sonbhadra , Uttar Pradesh, denoting the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
Sustainable Development Goal
According to the NITI Aayog SDG Index, India’s score rose from 52 in 2018 to 77 in 2023. Several states have emerged as “front-runners” in health outcomes. Maternal mortality has decreased to 97 per 100,000 live births. States like Kerala and Tamil Nadu have already met the 2030 target of 70.
India has made strides in health under the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3). This goal focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages. Recent reports indicate that India is on track to achieve several health targets.
